Nine days across the north: Hakodate, Noboribetsu, Otaru and Sapporo, six ryokan nights among them, in either direction.

How the journeys are taken

your own dates

Each journey is available across the year, on the dates you choose. Because you choose the dates, we set the order of the days around the places that keep a closing day, such as the Imperial Palace East Gardens, which close on Mondays and Fridays, so that nothing on the plan is missed.

a tour director, every day

A private chauffeur meets your flight and takes care of the luggage. Your Tour Director joins you that evening for the welcome dinner and is with you every day until the last, fluent in English and Japanese, so that the ryokan, the kitchen and the driver are all handled in Japanese on our side and you never negotiate anything.

one price

Prices are per person. The price is the same whether you travel alone or two of you share a room, and each journey takes a party of up to four guests in two rooms. A deposit confirms your dates; the balance is due 95 days before you travel.

the extension

Hiroshima and Miyajima

Offered on Essential Japan and Classic Japan: three days more, at USD $7,200 per person. From Osaka the Green Car reaches Hiroshima in about ninety minutes. Three nights at Hotel Granvia Hiroshima* allow an afternoon at the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, a day on Miyajima for Itsukushima Shrine and its great torii standing in the water, and a morning in Shukkei-en, the garden of the Asano lords. Your Tour Director stays with you to the end, and a private chauffeur takes you to your flight from Hiroshima, or the Green Car returns you to Osaka or Tokyo for it.
