Why Luxury Japan TravelThe reasons our guests choose us

Our guests choose us for reasons they can see on the first day of a journey and still feel long after the last.

Exclusively Japan

Japan is our only country. Every relationship we hold, everything we know and every month of our year is given to it, and a guest travels with the whole weight of that attention behind each day of the journey.

Our own people, on the ground

We plan, organise and run every tour. The journey a guest books with us is the journey our own people run in Japan, so that one hand holds it from the first conversation to the final morning, and no part of it is ever handed to another tour company.

The doors that open from within

Japan keeps its most sought-after places for the people it already knows. The teahouses of Gion still receive no first-time guest without an introduction, and our guests spend an evening there with geiko and maiko through relationships of our own. The same standing opens kitchens and ryokan to our guests across the country.

Your Tour Directors

The most sought-after doors in Japan, and its most exclusive places, open only from within. Your Tour Director opens them: one of our own, fluent in English and Japanese. They enhance every day, turning a beautiful journey into a deep and authentic experience of Japan.

The height of every season

Our dates follow the season to the week. The Classic Cherry Blossom Tour of Japan reaches Kyoto as its blossom opens in the first days of April, and the Cherry Blossom Tour of Hokkaido waits almost a month for the cherry to reach the north. Every route is drawn to stay with its season from the first day to the last.

Where you stay

You stay in the finest luxury hotels and ryokan in Japan, each one chosen personally by us for its luxury, its comfort and its setting. Mount Fuji is in view from an open-air onsen, and above Lake Shikotsu, the clearest lake in Japan, a suite keeps an open-air onsen of its own.

The table

Every meal set out in the itinerary is included, more than twenty on most of our tours, and each is chosen for its place and its week. A bento from a Michelin-starred kitchen is laid beneath the blossom, and in Kyoto dinner is served at a restaurant with two Michelin stars.

Eight guests

Our seasonal tours never exceed eight guests, a small number of couples, so that every journey keeps the ease of travelling among friends and moves at the pace of the people on it.

One price, and nothing left to arrange

One inclusive price: all breakfasts, and all other meals as detailed in the itinerary. Every night, every train, every transfer and every reservation is within it, and a private car and chauffeur meet you on arrival and see you off at the end. All prices are in US dollars, per person, and cover every tax and service charge payable in Japan on the tour.

Four ways to travel with us

Our seasonal tours leave on fixed dates at the height of cherry blossom, summer and autumn. The Private Collection is four private journeys, Essential Japan, Classic Japan, Definitive Japan and Pure Hokkaido, each travelled on your own dates exactly as we designed it. The Custom Tour of Japan is created for you alone, around the Japan you have in mind. The Expert Japan Itinerary is a complete day-by-day plan, written by us, for those who would rather travel on their own.

Tell us when you would like to be in Japan, and we will show you what that season holds.
