The rooms

The 171 rooms and suites were redesigned in a black and anthracite palette with softer green carpets, in tactile materials and with contemporary Japanese art, their bathrooms in marble and wood laid out as open wet rooms. Deluxe Rooms of 55 square metres carry a walk-in closet, a daybed, a separate shower and a deep tub, with views of the city or Mount Fuji.

The new Park Suites of 85 square metres add a separate living room, and the larger suites, up to 290 square metres, keep soaking tubs of hinoki or marble and a steam or mist sauna of their own.

The pool and the spa

The pool and spa fill the 45th and 47th floors: a pool of twenty metres by eight beneath a glass atrium some fourteen metres high, the skyline around it, with marble whirlpools, seven treatment rooms and a gym.

Dining

A brasserie joins French cooking to Japanese precision; a modern Japanese dining room, drawing on kaiseki and finished in walnut, looks to Mount Fuji; and a grill and bar on the 52nd floor, its walls hung with murals, looks over the whole city. The lounge serves afternoon tea and cocktails among the bamboo, and a library of more than 2,000 books sits between them.

the setting

Tokyo

Shinjuku Park Tower stands on the west side of Shinjuku, crowned with three triangular peaks, and the hotel occupies its upper fourteen floors, from the 39th to the 52nd. The windows look across Harajuku and Shibuya, the forest of Meiji Jingu and Yoyogi Park, and on clear days to Mount Fuji.

The towers of west Shinjuku stand around it, and Meiji Jingu, Yoyogi Park and Shinjuku Gyoen are each a short drive away.
