Aman Tokyo is a hotel on the top floors of the Otemachi Tower in central Tokyo, of 84 suites in wood, washi and granite, close to Tokyo Station and looking over the city to the gardens of the Imperial Palace.

The rooms
The suites run from the Garden View and Deluxe Suites of 71 square metres and the Tokyo Suite of 77, through the City Suite of 121 and the Grand Suite of 141, to the corner Panorama Suites of 139 and the Aman Suite of 157. They are made in wood, washi and granite, with shoji sliding doors and stone furo baths, and many of the suites have a sunken living area.

The pool and the spa
The spa spreads over two floors: a heated 30-metre indoor pool with views across the city, a traditional Japanese bath with steam rooms, eight treatment rooms each with its own steam shower, and studios for yoga and Pilates. The water is not a hot spring.

Dining
The restaurants are a refined Italian restaurant celebrating seasonal ingredients and Italy's harvest cuisine, with the skyline beyond, and an Edomae sushi counter of hinoki cypress. The lounge serves through the day beneath floor-to-ceiling windows, a café sits among the trees of the Otemachi Forest, and a patisserie in the tower bakes its own bread and pastry.

Tokyo
The tower rises in Otemachi, the business district between Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace gardens, and the hotel takes its top floors. Its lobby is vast, laid out with ikebana, washi doors and engawa platforms, and at the foot of the tower a planted wood, the Otemachi Forest, shelters a café among the trees.
The Imperial Palace gardens are a few minutes from the tower, and Tokyo Station is close by.
