the room
The rooms
Every room is a suite, in six kinds, each with its own colour and decoration: suites on the ground and upper floors, larger suites, a corner suite with a separate bedroom, and a suite on the top floor for four with onsen indoors and in the open air. Every suite has an open-air onsen from the resort's own source.
to unwind
The onsen
The resort draws a simple alkaline spring from its own source, soft on the skin, and it fills the open-air onsen of every suite. The shared onsen adds an open-air pool where the murmur of the river can be heard.
the table
Dining
Dinner is kaiseki on the season and the produce of Tochigi, joining Japanese, Western and Nikko influences, with a teppanyaki room where the meat is grilled in front of the guest. Breakfast is Japanese, on the harvest of Tochigi.
the setting
Nikko
Nikko is the shrine town in the mountains of Tochigi where Toshogu Shrine stands. The resort lies in its green, beside the Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park, with the mountains around it and the river close enough to be heard from the open-air onsen.
The Tamozawa Imperial Villa is four minutes away, and the gilded shrine of Toshogu is sixteen minutes on foot.
