  1. The sea from the onsen

The terrace rooms carry an open-air onsen looking straight out at the Okhotsk Sea.

  2. Shiretoko at the door

The World Heritage peninsula, its cruises and the Five Lakes begin a few minutes away.

the setting

Nothing but the Okhotsk Sea, from the terrace onsen.

Shiretoko is the long volcanic peninsula at the north-east corner of Hokkaido, a World Heritage Site of forest, cliffs and waterfalls running into the sea, home to brown bears, deer and sea eagles. The hotel stands at the edge of Utoro harbour, where the cruises along the coast begin.

At the door: the harbour and its rock of Oronko; the Five Lakes, Furepe Falls and the coastal cruise a short drive.
